Gas grills do have a longer life span but if you don’t clean and maintain your grill regularly, the burners can get clogged. Moreover, if more gunk builds up then it may cause small fires and rust can damage your beautiful-looking grill machine.

- The griller must be kept covered to avoid contact of unwanted dirt and substances which can lead to rusting of the burner.
- After completing grilling,leave the gas on high temperature for 15 minutes to let the residue stuck on grills burn into ash which is easier to get rid off.
- Check your burner for leakage every 15 days. To do this make a soap and water solution and apply it on the gas pipe using a brush. Turn the gas on. If any bubbles come out then you know its leaking and its time to get it replaced.
- The pipe line must be placed in a way to have a smoother flow. Any twists in the pipe line can lead to cracks and also hinders the gas to reach the burner.
Annual Cleaning Process of the Gas Grill
The cleaning process is not much difficult but it might be tacky and somewhat tiring too. It requires soapy water, a wire brush, an old sponge and you are good to go.
But before beginning the cleaning process, never forget to turn the gas knob off to avoid risk of any gas leakage or any kind of danger.
- Clean the grates: Remove the grates and buff them with wire brush dipped in soapy water to remove the grease and sticky residual food chunks.Make sure to clean both sides of the grates.
- Buff Metal Pates: Next you have to clean the metal plates which cover and protect the burners. They also disperse the heat to allow even heating and cooking. Scrub the plate properly to remove grime or residues.
- Remove clogging: Check the burner holes for any clogging. Insects also enter the holes during the off-grilling season. The burner holes can be cleaned using a toothpick or some pointed pin. If the burners have too much rust or flakes coming out, they need to be replaced.
- Getting Rid off grime: Clean the bottom plate by scraping it with an iron spatula for better results. If the plate is removable it can be cleaned by dipping it in soapy water. Otherwise, you can wipe it with damp sponge.
- Reassembling: After cleaning every part reassemble the grill by placing the parts back on their place.
