Concealed Wiring

Whenever you are going for concealed wiring, you should go for 3 pair wiring instead of the other options. Three pair makes it much easier to connect different services in telephone. Even if you are not using those services now, you are keeping a provision for the future, which makes your wiring extremely versatile. Moreover, you should use flush mounted wall jacks or baseboards because they would fit the standard electrical outlet box. In case of concealed wiring, you should complete the entire wiring process before the insulation as well as the drywalls of the wall is done.

Why do you need to use a Standard Outlet Box?

As mentioned before, you should always use a standard outlet box to hold the jacks and then you can attach these boxes securely to a stud, which is inside the wall.

Visible Wiring  

You can use either three wiring or two wiring for installing visible wiring. 2 pair wire would look better for this type of installation because it is much easier to secure and moreover it will look manageable. In this, a standard baseboard jack should used instead of the flush mounted one because they can be easily secured to any kind of baseboard. Start the wiring at that point, where you want to install a telephone jack. You should leave a minimum of 30 cm or 12 inches of extra wire at the decided location of the jack. At the demarcation point however, you should leave at least 3 feet or 1 meter of extra wire.

You need to fasten the wire to the moldings and baseboard using a fastener. It can be a staple gun. Round staples should be use to avoid any kind of damage to the wire. You should pull and straighten the wire before stapling it but you should not stretch it. You should also be careful while stapling the wire because if you staple through the wire, the whole section has to discarded.
