Get Your Glow Back For The New Year

Winter can be a tough time for your skin, as central heating can dry it out, and the difference in temperatures inside and out can wreak havoc on your skin. Sticking to a routine and using some simple skincare products can make glowing skin a reality once more.

Diet can have a big impact on your skin, and some of the best skincare products can be found at home in the store cupboard, so consider adding them to your daily skincare rituals. Make sure your what you eat is balanced and has a good supply of vitamins A, B, C, and E. Drink at least eight glasses of water every day to moisturise your skin from the inside and to flush out toxins, too.

Almond Oil

Much-hyped in recent years, almond oil can do wonders for your skin and nails. Massage into the face and hands before bed and wake up to gorgeously soft skin in the morning, as it locks in moisture. A couple of drops added to a warm bath will also work wonders for your skin’s overall softness, though make sure the bath is not too hot, as too high a temperature can be damaging and drying for your skin.

Honey

A very versatile food cupboard staple, honey is as flexible for your skin as it can be in your food. Mix with a little lemon juice and then apply the paste to your face and neck, and even hands or legs, and leave for fifteen minutes. Rinse with cold water for radiant skin. For a moisturising option, replace the lemon juice with egg white and apply. The additional moisturising effect might help reduce wrinkles by keeping skin supple. For a softening face mask, try honey and banana. Mash the banana with a little milk, some honey and a splash of lime juice for a face mask that not only smells good enough to eat but leaves beautifully soft skin.

Oatmeal Scrub

A quality facial scrub is one of the best skincare products to have in your regime. It removes any dead cells from the surface of the skin – one of the biggest reasons skin looks dull at this time of year – and leaves the new layer of naturally glowing skin to shine through. Mix a little oatmeal with some milk to make a paste to apply on to the face. Leave it to dry, and then scrub gently in circular motions to remove any dead skin and impurities. Rinse with cold water and pat dry.

Cucumber Toner

A slice of cucumber over each eye while you relax with a face mask can help to reduce dark circles, but squeezing some juice from the cucumber and applying directly to the face can be a great natural toner.

These natural remedies are easy to do at home, and after the excesses of Christmas and New Year, it might be time to start being a little kinder to your skin again.
